The Nobel Charitable Trust Foundation replies to false accusations!!!

Released on: October 12, 2007, 1:58 pm

Press Release Author: Philip Nobel

Industry: Energy

Press Release Summary: Recently the Nobel Charitable Trust Foundation and its
chairman have been accuse of misusing the familyname Nobel. We,the founders of the
Nobel Charitable Trust Foundation hereby feel obliged to respond to these untrue
statements.

Press Release Body: Dr.Michael Nobel never did introduce himself as chairman of the
Nobel Family Society which the organizers of Nanotech had stated in their previous
press-release.He clearly stated that he was the actual chairman of the Nobel
Charitable Trust Foundation(which he in fact is)and proposed to make the
announcement of these new awards in that name.Dr.Nobel also had pointed out in
several mails to the organizers the incorrect information in their initial
press-release and asked that corrections were to be made but that was totally
ignored by them.As for the $25.000,although a payment may be uncommon in such cases
as this.this particular amount was intended for the Nobel Charitable Trust
Foundation and not for a personal use like media have suggested on different
occasions. The fact that he wishes to use his own, personal name for such a cause as
this should not in any way be held against him as the NCTF is created and operated
in and for a charitable and educational purpose and cause.
To furthermore increase the distance between the "Nobel-Prizes" we've chosen to call
these awards the "Michael Nobel Energy Award",a name which couldn't nor shouldn't
in no way be confused or misinterpreted with the prizes that are being ditribuated
on the 10th of December!!!
Finally,as for the claim made by the Nobel Foundation in sweden that Dr.Nobel did
not have the family's support.the Nobel Charitable Trust Foundation is created by
three members of the board of directors of the Nobel Family Society and one of the
founders also is the actual head of the Nobel family which all gives Dr.Michael
Nobel a very strong support.
We,the four founders of the Nobel Charitable Trust Foundation feel that alternative
energy(as we're all aware that our natural resources will not last forever)and our
enviroment is of highest priority in our every-day life and most certainly for the
generations to come!!!

We would also like to include a comment made by someone whith insight in the
matter, posted as a reply to an article that appeared in the New York Times on
september 18:

6:35 am This article is suffering from much misinformation. It is merely a crude and
abominable attempt to gain publicity by NanoTX. It's disgusting how twisted this
story is. First, Peter Balbus was the one who approached Dr. Nobel. He promised a
donation to the NCTF and introductions to many possible donors for the organization.
As time went along, the donation dwindled to a "maybe" and who knows about the rest.
After reading this article, I can't help but to think they were scamming him to get
press coverage. It's ridiculous. Let's be real here, a man like Dr. Nobel does not
need 25k. NanoTX sent over a press release with which corrections were made and
immediately sent back. Final approval over press-releases was part of the offer they
sent over to Dr. Nobel. They did not honor their offer and we had a huge problem
with that. Also, they were fully aware that Dr. Nobel is the "former" Chairman of
the family society. I'm very disappointed with the politics NanoTX is playing here
and am glad that Dr. Nobel is no longer involved. They literally begged him to speak
and are now upset they are not getting what they want. Starting a smear campaign
against Dr. Nobel is in sever poor taste. He and the three other Nobel family
members who founded the Nobel Charitable Trust Foundation are dedicated to the
beliefs behind the organization. The award the NCTF is setting up will do a lot of
good and bring some attention to today's energy problems before they become crisis.
The scholarships the organization is setting up will also help many young scientists
move their projects forward where other organizations have denied them. They are not
attacking an individual, they are attacking a charity. I'm very disappointed in the
lack of ethics within their organization.

6:44 am Regarding the press release:

(From Peter Balbus)

Here is our proposed first press release announcing Dr. Michael Nobel's
participation as featured keynote speaker at nanoTX'07.

We envision that there will be a steady stream of announcements around Dr. Nobel's
participation and the intent of the Dr. Michael Nobel Energy Award initiative. By
design, this first release is oriented towards promoting both nanoTX and Dr. Nobel.
Future releases will be more heavily weighted towards promoting Dr. Nobel.

Please let me know your reactions and suggested edits at your earliest opportunity!

Best regards,

Peter

Here are the NCT's corrections to the press release:

Peter,

Following are our changes to the press release. Once these are made you may send it.

They MUST take out the references to the Nobel Family and the Nobel Prize
in the first para of the announcement. "first award associated with the
Nobel Family name since the Nobel Prize in Economics was established in
1968″.

Also to be eliminated is the sentence:

"This is why we are creating this new award and lending the credibility of
the Nobel family name to its establishment." That is patently untrue and
misleading.

Also "politicians" as a prize category should be changed to "policy
makers" and "celebrities" to "public advocacy representatives".

Also it is not called Dr. Michael Nobel Award, it is to
be called the Michael Nobel Energy Award and is to be announced in 2009
not 2008!!!!

These changes are mandatory.

Here is Peter's response:

Many thanks for your quick turnaround - I'll take care of the changes for you!

Peter
